Book Week

It's been a busy Monday morning in Year 3. Today we were lucky to have the children's author Bill Nagelkerke come and talk to us.  We loved his magic coloring book and story about Rusty. Thank you Bill.

Strike

Today our eardrums nearly burst to the sound of the amazing drumming of Strike. Using marimba, hanging drums and hollow logs they wowed us with their tunes. We were excited and inspired!

Describe

Today we were doing some collaborative writing based on a picture of an old leaf. We had finished our discussion and drafted a short description of the leaf together. The children had buddied up and were working on their own descriptions. After a wee while I noticed a cluster of kids in animated conversation around the TV. On walking on over I was told that they thought the writing had a weak beginning and they were fighting over how to improve it!! lol!! This is what they eventually came up with!

A Leaf.

The leaf swishes around in the air, moved by the wind. It looks like a golden queen's crown that is fragile and delicate like glass. The dead leaf has lots of different shades of brown. It looks rotten and easy to crunch. It rattles constantly in the wind and flutters gently in my hand like a butterfly. When the leaf falls to the ground, it slowly starts to crack along its veins.

My Grandma

My lovely grandma lives in Bishopdale. She has a English accent and she is really funny! She has grey hair and blue eyes .She has lips as red as roses. Grandma, Jill, has wrinkles near her short grey beautiful hair. She has 3 children and 3 grand children. Her children were always getting up to mischief. They would empty out the kitchen cupboards, including the flour, and grandma would yell, "Get out!" When we go over to her house for tea, me and Elia help with the cooking.

I love my grandma and she loves me.
